Definition: Retraction of the tympanic membrane with complete obliteration of the middle ear space due to adhesion of tympanic membrane to the promontory.
Causes:
Long standing Otitis media with effusion, atelectasis or suppurative Otitis media.
Symptoms:
Signs:
Retracted fixed tympanic membrane.
Investigations:
Pure tone audiometer reveales conductive hearing loss. Impedance audiometer reveales type B tympanogeam.
Treatment: Hearing aid.
